WHO WE ARE
Trailblazers is a competitive homeschool sports club based in Greenfield, Indiana, that serves Hancock County and the surrounding areas. Our mission from the beginning has always been: PROMOTING CHRISTIAN CHARACTER THROUGH COMPETITIVE SPORTS. We believe competitive sports require training and discipline. Along the way, players will discover their natural responses to the demands of the sport. Our coaches help the players to shape their responses in ways that honor God, edify our teammates, and reflect good stewardship of the time and talents given to each of us.
Trailblazers is not only a place where homeschooled students can play a sport, but more importantly a place where they can develop the following virtues, which are the pillars of our club:
1. Promoting and developing Christian character
2. Teaching self-discipline, leadership and teamwork
3. Equipping homeschooled students with lifelong skills for health and fitness
4. Providing opportunities and guidance for winning and losing with grace
5. Offering competitive sports training and matches without compromising previous goals
OUR STORY
In 2008, East Indy Trailblazers was founded by Mark Lehman. He wanted a place for his daughter to be able to play soccer at a high school level without compromising her home school education experience. Her passion for the game resulted in a call to the local home school community and a team was formed. It was a rough start, with only half of the students having previous soccer experience, but with the the help of the experienced players and the dedication of coach Lehman, homeschool varsity soccer arrived in the Hancock/eastern Marion county area.
In 2023, the club was renamed Trailblazers FC and became a non-for-profit organization, in hopes that we could provide more opportunities to further the clubs original mission: PROMOTING CHRISTIAN CHARACTER THROUGH COMPETITIVE SPORTS.
Erin Edwards with her love of running blazed a new trail for our club in 2024. She and her family had played soccer with the Trailblazers for several years and she had assistant coached our 11U team, but her true passion had always been running cross country. Erin's desire was to begin a cross country team for the Trailblazer families. We are excited for this new adventure and the opportunity to further our mission of: PROMOTING CHRISTIAN CHARACTER THROUGH COMPETITIVE SPORTS.
The Trailblazers are honored to have won several state soccer championships, one national soccer championship, several top three soccer finishes, along with many soccer sportsmanship awards. But more than titles and trophies, we are extremely proud of the culture of sportsmanship and lifelong relationships that are fostered within our soccer family.
“WHATEVER YOU DO, DO YOUR WORK HEARTILY, AS FOR THE LORD RATHER THAN FOR MEN, KNOWING THAT FROM THE LORD YOU WILL RECEIVE THE REWARD OF THE INHERITANCE. IT IS THE LORD CHRIST WHOM YOU SERVE." - COLOSSIANS 3:23-24
