TRAILBLAZERS

DANCE INFORMATION & FAQS

Pull out your (tartan) plaid for this year’s Scottish Ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee)!

Join us on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 7-10 PM at NineStar Connect Conference Center (2243 East Main Street, Greenfield, IN) as Trailblazers HYPE hosts a spring semi-formal dance for 7th-12th graders.

Originally reigning from the Scottish Highlands, traditional Scottish Ceilidhs celebrated lively folk music, dancing, and community. Our re-imaged Scottish Ceilidh features wholesome modern songs and dances as well as shared merriment and revelry.

We hope to see you on the dance floor!

CAN I REGISTER MY GUEST FOR THE DANCE?
No, each guest must be registered by their own parent or guardian.

HOW DO I PAY FOR TICKETS?
Payment for tickets is due at the time of registration. At this time, we are only accepting Credit Cards (VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and limited AMEX) as payment.

CAN I PURCHASE A TICKET FOR MY GUEST?
No. Ticket purchase is included with registration and must be done by the dance attendee's parent or guardian.

CAN I LEAVE THE DANCE EARLY?
Parental permission must be given during registration to leave the dance early. At the dance, students must be checked out by a member of the dance committee. Because this is a safety issue, violators of this rule may be prohibited from future dances.

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE FOR THE DANCE?
Semi-formal attire is encouraged but not required (please no t-shirts or athletic shorts).

This is a Christian dance that includes a wide range of ages (7th-12th grade): modesty is expected. While we are not assigning volunteers to pre-screen or monitor clothing, we trust parents and guardians to guide their students' attire choices. A good rule of thumb: if you wouldn't wear it to see Jesus, you probably shouldn't wear it to the dance.

DO I HAVE TO WEAR A KILT?
No. They are optional but will be enthusiastically encouraged. As with all other dancewear please keep it Holy Spirit approved.

DO I NEED TO KNOW ANY "DANCES" BEFORE THE DANCE?
No, our dances are very relaxed and newcomers are welcomed!

There is always someone who is willing to help another dance guest navigate classics from the Cha-Cha Slide, Cupid Shuffle, Cotton-Eyed Joe, to the Church Clap and make sure everyone who wants to cut a rug feels comfortable to hop out on the dance floor.

There will also be a Practice & Pizza event on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 6:30-8:30 PM at NineStar Connect Conference Center. Registration is $5/dance enthusiast and is now open. Venmo only. Register here today!

If your child can't make it to Practice & Pizza or would like to practice some of the group dances at home before the dance, below is a link to a Google Slideshow of some of the songs. Some common dances include the: Macarena, Cupid Shuffle, Cha-Cha-Slide, Your Way's Better, Cotton-Eyed Joe, Git Up Dance, and Church Clap.

Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in appropriate correction and disciplinary action, up to and including removal from the program.

DRESS CODE
Semi-formal attire is encouraged but not required (please no t-shirts or athletic shorts).

This is a Christian dance that includes a wide range of ages (7th-12th grade): modesty is expected. EARLY DEPARTURE
If you approved your child to leave the dance early, the student must be checked out by a member of the dance committee. Because this is a safety issue, violators of this rule may be prohibited from future dances.

CODE OF CONDUCT
Love & Respect One Another: Treat all members, visitors, and leaders with dignity. Bullying, gossip, and put-downs are not tolerated. Actions should reflect Christ, both in and out of the group.

Respect Authority & Property: Follow instructions from chaperones and treat them courteously -- they are essential to maintaining a safe and fun environment. Respect property, including cleaning up after yourself.

Safety & Boundaries: No illegal substances (drugs, alcohol, tobacco) are allowed. Maintain appropriate physical boundaries—no physical displays of affection (PDAs) beyond hand holding or a brief hug. Leave room for the Holy Spirit!

Inclusion: Actively work to ensure no one feels left out.

Words Matter: Use encouraging, positive language. No profanity, hateful, or divisive language.

The Golden Rule: Treat others as you want to be treated.

Participation & Attitude: Be present, actively engage in activities, and keep a positive, encouraging attitude.

Modesty: Your thoughts, words, actions, and appearance should seek/strive to honor God. If you would be embarrassed or ashamed to think it, say it, do it, or wear it in HIS presence, then you shouldn't be thinking, saying, doing, or wearing it.

Grace: Extend forgiveness and understanding to one another when mistakes are made as we learn and grow together.

Guiding Scriptures
1 Timothy 4:12: Setting an example in speech, life, love, faith, and purity.
Colossians 3:12-15: Clothing oneself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
Matthew 22:37-39: Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind. Love your neighbor as yourself.
Ephesians 4:29:  Let no unwholesome word come from your mouth, but only what is helpful for building others up.
